What You’ll Need

Most of these materials can be found at home or in a dollar or craft store.

Supplies:

  • Glass jars (recycled jam jars or mason jars work perfectly)
  • Dried fall leaves or faux leaves
  • Mod Podge or white glue mixed with water
  • Paintbrush or sponge brush
  • Twine, ribbon, or raffia
  • Battery-operated tea light or LED candle
  • (Optional) A few drops of cinnamon or clove essential oil for a cozy autumn scent

How to Create the Candle Holders

  1. Prepare the Jar
Wash and dry the jar thoroughly. If desired, lightly sand or remove any labels for a smooth surface.
  2. Add the Leaves
Using your brush, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge or glue on the outside of the jar. Gently press dried leaves onto the surface, smoothing them down carefully.
  3. Seal and Shine
Brush another layer of glue over the leaves to seal them. Let the jar dry for at least 1–2 hours.
  4. Add Finishing Touches
Wrap twine, ribbon, or raffia around the jar’s rim. Add a small bow or charm for decoration.
  5. Add Your Candle
Place an LED tea light inside (avoid real flames for safety). For extra sensory appeal, add a drop of cinnamon or clove essential oil to create a comforting autumn aroma.
