Herb-Roasted Turkey Breast

A Lean, Tender, and Senior-Friendly Holiday Meal

The holidays often bring rich, heavy dishes — but for many seniors, lighter meals that are still full of flavour are easier to enjoy and digest. This Herb-Roasted Turkey Breast is a perfect healthier alternative to a full turkey dinner, offering all the festive comfort without the heaviness.

Moist, aromatic, and easy to prepare, this recipe provides seniors with the protein they need for strength and recovery, while keeping sodium, fat, and seasoning gentle and balanced.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 1 turkey breast (approx. 2 lbs)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp dried rosemary

  • 1 tsp dried thyme

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced (optional for sensitivity)

  • ¼ cup low-sodium chicken broth

  • ½ lemon (optional, for brightness)

  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

1.  Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, rosemary, thyme, garlic, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
3.  Rub the mixture evenly over the turkey breast.
4.  Place turkey in a baking dish and pour chicken broth around the base to keep it moist.
5.  Cover with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
7.  Remove foil for the last 5 minutes to lightly brown the top.
8.  Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing into tender, easy-to-chew pieces.
