Many of us can imagine the beauty of a sunflower field in full bloom; it simply brings a smile to our faces. Why not try to re-create that sunny, yellow, cheerful scene by painting your own sunflowers?! But make sure you have a fork handy! That's right, in this activity, we use a fork as a painting tool!
Fork Print Sunflower Painting
Instructions have been adapted from this website. Also, check out this great video showing each step!
Here's what you need
Yellow, orange, brown, and green paint
Fork
Craft Paper
Paintbrush or unused toothbrush
Pencil
Water & Paper towels for clean-up
Instructions
Begin by lightly drawing separate circles onto your craft paper to make multiple flowers.
Next, start dipping the back of your fork tines/prongs into yellow paint and drag the fork outwards from the circles ("brushing" away from the circle). This will create a petal effect on each flower.
Repeat step 2 using orange paint.
Using the paintbrush or toothbrush, dip it in brown paint and tap or brush the inside of each flower circle to create the sunflower "seeds". For those who may want a bit more hands-on tasks, you can opt to dip your fingertip into the brown paint and dab the inside of each sunflower as well.
Finish off your flowers by painting a green stem under each sunflower.
Let dry and display in a sunny area to enjoy all season long!
