Flashback Friday: May 20th

In keeping with this week's theme on birds, why not celebrate flight in what could be called a bird-like feat of human engineering! Now, we cannot compare to the natural flying ability of most birds, but it's still pretty impressive to think about air travel through history.

In today's Flashback Friday, we honour Amelia Earhart, a household name in aviation history, as she was the first woman to fly solo and non-stop across the Atlantic. She had set off from Newfoundland, and when she arrived in Ireland a farmhand asked her if she had flown far - she replied: "from America."

Share this moment in history with your elderly loved ones today - it may just inspire some memories of travel and history of their own!
